Andare via da New York senza aver visto almeno uno spettacolo di Broadway è una vera e propria follia.
E' in questo quartiere che i musical più divertenti e belli mai stati composti si alternano a tutte le ore del giorno. 

Going away from New York without seeing at least one Broadway show is real crazy.

NEW YORK: CONSIGLI DI VIAGGIO ALLA RICERCA DELL'ALLOGGIO PERFETTO

Mi raccomando: prima di cominciare ad organizzare il vostro viaggio dei sogni per La Grande Mela, non dimenticate che, andare a New York, a differenza della nostra cara Europa, necessita di qualche piccola urgenza burocratica in più: in primo luogo, un passaporto in corso di validità e, non di minore importanza, un regolare visto turistico (ESTA) la cui procedura, per fortuna, è molto semplice e veloce. Poi, vi consiglio anche di non partire sprovvisti di regolare assicurazione sanitaria: è sempre meglio prevenire che, nel caso, curare con i costi dell'esorbitante sanità americana. Ci sono tantissime agenzie che offrono servizi del genere, come ad esempio AIG, per tutte le tasche e le esigenze: l'assicurazione sanitaria USA non è obbligatoria però, vi assicuro, è vivamente consigliata!

Sbrigato questo, potrete procedere al passaggio più semplice: prenotare il volo. Detto fatto, non è vero?

Beh, ora non vi rimane altro da fare se non, come da titolo di questo post, prenotare il vostro alloggio, cosa non proprio semplicissima vista la gamma infinita di scelte che New York propone e i prezzi non proprio a buon mercato.

PADULA: LA CITTA' CILENTANA DELL'INCANTEVOLE CERTOSA E DI JOE PETROSINO, IL POLIZIOTTO PIU' FAMOSO D'AMERICA

Anche nei luoghi che frequenti da una vita c’è sempre qualcosa di nuovo da scoprire.

E’ da quando avevo appena qualche mese che trascorro le mie vacanze estive nel Cilento, terra selvaggia e incontaminata nella parte meridionale della Campania, di cui avevo iniziato a parlarvi in questo post.

Quest’anno sono finalmente riuscita a fare tappa in una città cilentana che desideravo visitare da tempo: si tratta di Padula, graziosa cittadina con una storia ricca e inaspettata.

HOBOKEN: BOSS DELLE TORTE E MOLTO ALTRO

C'è un modo molto semplice per chi, arrivato a New York e senza altro tempo per visitare il resto degli Stati Uniti, voglia provare l'ebbrezza di cambiare Stato: bastano una manciata di minuti di treno o di navigazione per raggiungere Hoboken, la tranquilla e carina cittadina del New Jersey che negli ultimi anni ha conosciuto una fama senza precedenti.

THE BRONX: UN MITO DA SFATARE

Quando si pensa al Bronx, nella maggior parte dei casi, la mente corre a qualche sparatoria vista al cinema o, semmai, a qualche episodio di violenza di cui hanno parlato i telegiornali.
Beh, dopo aver vissuto per un mese nel distretto più malfamato di New York(la fermata metro più vicina al mio appartamento portava il non rassicurante nome di Gun Hill Road), posso affermare con sicurezza che questa nomea non è per nulla meritata.

When you think about The Bronx, in most cases, the mind turns to shootings seen in the movies or to episodes of violence mentioned by the news.
Well, after living for a month in the most notorious district of New York (the nearest metro station to my apartment had the not reassuring name 'Gun Hill Road'), I can say with confidence that this reputation is not at all deserved.

MANGIARE A NEW YORK: MISSION (QUASI) IMPOSSIBLE

Partiamo da un presupposto: mangiare bene a New York non è per nulla semplice.

Certo, la Grande Mela, anche sotto il punto di vista culinario, ha un'offerta varia e quasi infinita, ma, per chi è abituato agli alti standard italiani(da noi, in effetti, si mangia bene veramente in qualsiasi tipo di negozio), l'impresa di riuscire a fare un pasto decente(senza svuotare del tutto il portafogli) non è certo facile, anche se non del tutto impossibile.

Let's start with a premise: to eat well in New York is not easy.
Of course, the Big Apple, also from the culinary point of view, has a varied and almost endless offer, but for people used to the highest Italian standard (we eat really well in any type of store) the undertaking to be able to make a decent meal (without emptying the wallet) is not easy, even if not completely impossible.

CONSIGLI IN VIAGGIO: LA METROPOLITANA DI NEW YORK

Durante il mese che ho trascorso nella Grande Mela, come ho già detto nel mio primo post su New York, ho trovato la metropolitana il mezzo più comodo ed economico per spostarsi facilmente da un punto all'altro della City.

As I said in my first post about New York, during the month that I spent in the Big Apple I found the subway very efficient and cheap.

Ve ne accorgerete al massimo in un paio di giorni: New York ha la più alta concentrazione di matti che si possa immaginare. E, anche di questo vi accorgerete ben presto, non c'è niente che potrete trovare nella cosiddetta vita emersa che i tunnel della metropolitana, quei chilometri e chilometri di scale mobili che si snodano nel sottosuolo, non vi possano restituire in una forma più pura.

Ed è lì, proprio appena varcati i tornelli automatici, che vi capiterà di incontrare i matti più matti che mai città abbia ospitato nel suo ventre.

Io non ci sono riuscita.

ARRIVO A NEW YORK: PRIMI PASSI NELLA GRANDE MELA

Visitare New York era il mio sogno fin da bambina.

Ricordo che trascorrevo le ore a fantasticare su lunghe corse tra i grattacieli a bordo dei leggendari taxi gialli, pattinate sul ghiaccio a Central Park e shopping nei negozi di giocattoli più grandi del mondo.

Desideravo vedere questa città così da tanto che, una volta scesa dall'aereo, credevo stessi sognando!

The one thing i have always wanted to do, since I was a child, was to go to New York.
I spent hours fantasizing about long rides between the skyscrapers on board of the legendary yellow taxi, ice skating in Central Park and shopping in the biggest toy stores in the world.

I wanted to see this city so much that, once I got off the plane, I thought I was dreaming!
