Salerno, in recent times, is one of the most visited cities in southern Italy. Salerno is known primarily for the manifestation Le Luci d'Artista, artistic lights during Christmas time, but the city is perfetc to visit at any time of year.

The alleys of the old town, the most characteristic part of the city, combine the beauty of the ancient to the modern charm: you will find here many shops, of all kinds and for all tastes, and beautiful old buildings.

The city opens his perspective on the Promenade, where you can enjoy relaxing walks.
Even for people who love culture and history, Salerno have a good offer: the Cathedral, a beautiful church, with a beautiful courtyard, where the remains of St. Matthew are preserved.

In addition, not far from downtown, easily accessible by car, there is the Castle Arechi. The Castle, which dominates the city during the night with its golden hues, absolutely must be visited for the spectacular panorama that you can admire from the top: about 300 meters from sea level, thanks to its perfect location, the Castle dominates the view in every direction; from here you can admire the entire Salerno and much of the Amalfi Coast.

Another important structure of the city is the Maritime Station, a modern architecture.
Salerno has, then, the advantage of being close to all the enchanted places of the Amalfi Coast, staying here, in fact, you have the advantage of being in a big city and, above all, you can save money compared to the prices of the Amalfi Coast.

The Luci d'Artista in Salerno are now a fixture for many Italian and foreign tourists.
From year to year more and more beautiful, they are real bright works of art, distributed throughout the city during the Christmas season. Together with Christmas markets, exhibitions of Christmas cribs and music bands, the Luci d'Artista will make the walk through the narrow streets of the city truly magical and enjoyable.

Getting to Salerno, then, is really simple, and you can always take advantage of good weather! The train station, too, for those who prefer to move without the parking and traffic restrictions, is at one end of the main course, very close to all the main attractions of the center: only 50 meters and you will be catapulted in the festive mood of this city! Salerno station is connected to all of our beautiful peninsula, easily accessible by high-speed trains. On the web, there are suggestions for those arriving by train: Italo, for example, in his magazine advises Salerno and her sea as a getaway to good humor, even when the bathing season is not yet started. And about train travel, I have also found an infographic on their magazine about the 9 basic items to be not forgotten before boarding: this is very useful for travelers who do not like the car for their travels!

So:
Salerno, between modernity and tradition, is a truly unique place, a city to visit in every season of the year!
