Venice: need I say more?
The Lagoon, Rialto, Piazza San Marco, the Doge's Palace, the Grand Canal, the Guggenheim Museum: I think few person, on the globe, don't know the places I'm talking about.
However, in this post, I wanted to talk about some glimpses of the city that most reminded me the atmosphere of the "real Venice", the city that we read in the books of the nineteenth century and we saw in ancient movies, the Venice where the the lagoon is the place for lovers and honeymooners, but not only that!
tutti quei turisti, tutta quella folla facessero perdere qualcosa
It's clear: only a fool would remain disappointed looking the famous attractions that I mentioned before, but Venice is not only this.

Se, come me, arrivate col treno,
During my last stay, I often took the opposite path to the crowd and I found, in some places, the "real Venice", or, however, the idea that I have about that: the city before Venice became one of the major visitor attractions in the world.
If, like me, you'll come by train, do not immediately take the ferry to the center. Hike: the crowd is sparse, you will find many small churches on your path, many deserted alleys to explore!

About a five minute walk from the station of Santa Lucia, you can find, in my opinion, the best, and also the cheapest, store masks in Venice: Ca' Macan Atelier.
Another beautiful walk is the one that takes you to the Fondamenta Nuove Pier, where departs ferries to Burano, Murano and Torcello.

My favorite part of the city are the calli: the streets are very narrow, the small open spaces of which overlook the buildings tell about ancient times, the atmosphere is unreal, serene and sinister at the same time!
You will find here something really rare in Venice: the silence! And Venice is a city that is even more beautiful with the silence!

Come descriverla?
Un must!
Another area that I really liked? Santa Maria Formosa, a beautiful square with stands of fresh fruit, an imposing church, more rarefied and relaxed atmosphere. I visited here one of the most characteristic and particular places of Venice: the Libreria (Library) Acqua Alta. How can I describe it? Well, it's a library and a vintage shop; books are everywhere, in old bathtubs, discarded in gondolas, over your heads; there are even staircases of books!
A gorgeous cat, mascot of the library, jumps and sleep surrounded by books!

One last tip: for those who want to save money for a nice gondola ride (although I advise you not to economise on an experience so unique!): there is the possibility to cross from shore to shore for 2 Euros.

Of course, said that, to give up the most famous Venice is impossible: even if in this post I chose not to talk about it, it is undeniable that, coming in the most famous squares and crossing the most famous bridges, you'll find yourself in front of one of the most beautiful in the world!
But, I repeat, my advice is not to see only the famous places: after all, Venice is not great and why not see it all (or most)?

Tutti posti si prestano all'uscita dai circuiti turistici, ma sicuramente Venezia in particolare.

Dopo questi giri, l'ho veramente rivalutata. Una città unica e particolarissima!
