BADEN-BADEN: PICCOLO GIOIELLO, GRANDE SORPRESA

Do you need a period of relaxation after the stress of the job? Do you love the sound of the ball spinning in the roulette and the tinkle of the slot machines? Would you like to do a cultural tour or to see special museums? Do you love the elegant and refined cities?
For all these eventualities, Baden-Baden is perfect for you.

The small town in southern Germany has always been a great tourist destination (especially considering the very small size of the center), a destination of a very rich tourism that, in recent years, thanks to low-cost flights and similar initiatives, it is expanding to slices of market of each type.
We were guests of the tourist office of the city that, with an extreme kindness, directed us to the main attractions and the most beautiful walks.

The things to do in Baden-Baden are a lot: the pedestrian center is small but full of shops (from big names in fashion to more commercial shops), held in an exemplary manner, clean and very calm. I recommend you start your tour from those who, in my opinion, are the best cards of the city: the beautiful spa complexes.

There are two thermal baths: the Caracalla baths, modern, with a great system of swimming pools with many whirlpools and water games. Very evocative are the artificial waterfalls. Here, you will find also sauna and solarium. Calm and relaxation will melt your soul. On the second floor of the structure, there is an area of Roman saunas for only nudists. The admission price is very low: 15 euros for 2 hours and 3 euros per hour for each additional hour.

Friedrichsbad
The Friedrichsbad are the second thermal structure of the city. It is a Roman-Irish thermal structure, an oasis of peace only for nudists(Mark Twain said that after an hour here you'll forget even yourself!). A full path of about three hours costs 25 euros, 37 with massage included.

But do not believe that the resources of Baden-Baden run out there: once perfumed and relaxed, the rooms of one of the most beautiful casinos in Europe are waiting for you (about the casino, read here).

If you want a cultural walk, the museum offer is still valid: the most delicious museum is definitely the Fabergé Museum, the only museum in the world to host some of the works of the famous Russian jeweler. Here are exposed some Faberge eggs, as well as a myriad of subjects of animals, the so-called zoo-Faberge. The cost of entry is perhaps a little expensive (18 euros, 12 reduced) but they are not money wasted.

museo Frieder Burda

Another beautiful museum in the city is the museum of modern art "Frieder Burda" (ticket: 12 euros), which hosts, in addition to important temporary exhibitions, paintings by Picasso, Pollock and many other great artists.
In town there is also a state museum of art.

Festspielhaus

Opera lovers, then, will have something to rejoice: the Festspielhaus, one of the largest opera houses of Europe, always hosts big names and companies.

Nature lovers, however, can not miss a long walk along the Lichtentaler Allee, a beautiful garden that, in the summer months, offers rich and dazzling colors, with the addition of the small river that flows in the middle.

Along this avenue is located also the Brenner's Park, one of the most luxurious 5-star hotels in the world (during the World Cup in Germany the families of English players, including Victoria Beckham, stayed here).
Unfortunately I have not been lucky enough to visit it, but not very far from here, there is also a famous hippodrome.
Also "kitchen" has several strings to its bow: here I leave you some advice on my favorite restaurants and clubs in the city.

In short, Baden-Baden is a very small but very valid city from different points of view, that offers so much and it is not expensive like other places so elegant and refined.
The connections of the low-cost Ryan-air with Italy make this place simple (from the airport you can reach the city center by bus in less than an hour for about 3 euros) and cheap to reach.

Also, not far away, easily reached by train or by car, there are many beautiful cities and regions (Alsace, Strasbourg, Heidelberg, etc. etc.), ideal for planning a nice tour of France and Germany (just like what I did) .
In short, Baden-Baden: a little gem and a great surprise!
