Roma è sicuramente la città dove torno più spesso, almeno dieci volte l'anno; ogni volta, comunque, riesce a stupirmi e ad affascinarmi come la prima. Non ne ho mai parlato sul blog perché la bellezza di questa città è talmente tanta che non saprei proprio da dove cominciare. Oggi, però, voglio darvi qualche consiglio per trovare la sistemazione giusta in città. Io spesso mi sono trovata bene prenotando con Best Western (trovate qui tutti gli hotel a Roma della catena se volete dare un'occhiata), ma la ricerca non è facile vista la vastità della capitale e le tante e diverse zone in cui è divisa.
I return to Rome very frequently, even
ten times in a year; whenever, Rome fascinate me as the first time. I
have never spoken about Rome on the blog because the beauty of this
city is so much that I would not know where to start. Today, however,
I want to give some advice to find the right accommodation in the
city. Often I was fine booking with Best Western (here all the hotels in Rome if you want to take a look), but research is not easy.
Cominciamo, come è chiaro, dal centro:
non sempre, a mio parere, l'opzione migliore. Il budget, come è
normale, per chi non vuole dormire tanto lontano dal Colosseo, deve
essere più alto; in linea di massima, tenderei a diffidare delle
strutture centrali con prezzi bassi o bassissimi (la qualità a Roma
è molto molto varia: e, come in tutte le grandi città, ci sono
diverse strutture veramente da incubo!). Inoltre, molte zone, a mio
parere, non sono sicurissime, e in molte altre la qualità del sonno,
vista la posizione centrale, non è certo il massimo (questo,
chiaramente, sempre parlando di strutture dai prezzi accessibili).
I've been in many quarters, and I will
try to direct you in the best way.
We begin, as it is clear, from the
center: not always, in my opinion, the best option. The budget, as is
normal for those who do not want to stay so far away from the
Coliseum, should be higher; in principle, I would tend to be wary of
the central structures with low or very low prices (the quality in
Rome is varied and, as in all big cities, there are really different
nightmare structures!). In addition, many areas, in my opinion, are
not very safe, and in many other sleep quality is not the best (this,
of course, always talking about well-priced structures).
Per quel che mi riguarda, eviterei di prenotare hotel nella zona Termini (gli hotel più economici del centro solitamente si trovano qui), per quanto capillarmente collegata a tutto il resto, non è delle mie preferite. Per la mia esperienza, una delle zone migliori dove pernottare è Corso Vittorio Emanuele, soprattutto la parte più vicina al ponte che porta a Castel Sant'Angelo: ci sono stata spessissimo, in hotel di categorie diverse, e il livello medio delle strutture mi è sembrato molto buono; inoltre, sempre abbastanza al centro ma più defilata in modo da evitare il caos, vi consiglio Piazza Bologna, che, grazie alla metro in zona, è sicuramente un'ottima alternativa.
As for me, I would avoid booking hotels
in Termini (the cheaper hotels of the center usually are located
here), Termini is widely connected to everything, but it's not my
favorite area. In my experience, one of the best areas to stay is
Corso Vittorio Emanuele, especially the part closest to the bridge
leading to Castel Sant'Angelo: I stay frequently in this area, and
the average level of the structures in my opinion is very good; also,
I recommend Piazza Bologna, which, thanks to the metro in the area,
is a good alternative.
Passiamo ora a Roma Nord. Di solito, è qui che troverete il miglior rapporto qualità-prezzo. Purtroppo, per chi, come me, spesso si muove con i mezzi pubblici, sconsiglio di pernottare in quest'area: Roma ha tantissimi pregi, proprio tanti, ma il trasporto pubblico non è tra questi. Sconsiglio, in linea di massima, di prenotare qualsiasi hotel che richieda una corsa in bus: a volte le attese possono essere veramente estenuanti! Invece, se siete auto-muniti, Roma Nord è forse una delle zone più adatte: lontana dal caos, con diversi hotel di ottimo livello, e con un occhio di riguardo al vostro budget, può essere il punto di appoggio perfetto anche per visitare qualche paesello vicino alla capitale.
Now: Rome North. Usually, this is where
you will find the best value for money. Unfortunately, for those who,
like me, often using public transport, I do not recommend to stay in
this area: Rome has many advantages, but the public transport is not
among them. In principle, I advice against to book any hotel that
requires a bus ride: sometimes expectations can be really exhausting!
Instead, if you are self-equipped, North Rome is one of the areas
most suitable: away from the chaos with several hotels of excellent
quality, and, especially, cheaper.
Infine, vi lascio un consiglio che,
spesso, per me, si è rivelato prezioso: se dovete passare più
giorni nella Città Eterna, prendete in considerazione la possibilità
di pernottare a Ciampino. La piccola città, usata perlopiù solo
come base di appoggio per l'aeroporto, mi sembra adatta anche per chi
vuole visitare Roma: Ciampino è calma, non mancano i locali se la
sera siete troppo stanchi per tornare al centro; inoltre, i prezzi
sono sensibilmente più bassi rispetto a Roma (anche per le tasse
locali di pernottamento, che qui sono al minimo), e la relativa
lontananza è un problema solo teorico: ci sono, infatti, tantissimi
treni che la collegano in circa un quarto d'ora alla stazione di
Termini per 1,50€.
Finally, I leave a tip for you: if you
need to spend more days in the Eternal City, consider the possibility
of staying in Ciampino. The small town, mostly used only as a base
for the airport, it seems to me also suitable for those who want to
visit Rome: Ciampino is calm, with many restaurants and bars;
moreover, prices are significantly lower than in Rome. The distance
from the center is only a theoretical problem: there are, in fact,
many trains that connect Ciampino with Roma Termini in about 15
minutes, for only 1, 50€.
