CONSIGLI IN VIAGGIO: COSA FARE E VEDERE AD AMALFI IN UN GIORNO

Amalfi è una delle città più belle e caratteristiche della Costiera Amalfitana.
La sua antica storia di Repubblica Marinara si respira in ogni angolo: gli stretti vicoletti collegati da ripidissime scale, l'odore del pesce appena pescato e le botteghe dal fascino antico vi porteranno veramente indietro nel tempo.

Amalfi is one of the most beautiful and characteristic cities of the Amalfi Coast.
Its ancient history as Maritime Republic is breathed in every corner: the narrow alleyways connected by steep stairs, the smell of fresh fish, the ancient shops will take you back in time.

Amalfi, a mio avviso molto più caratteristica della glamour Positano, è molto piccola (come d'altronde tutti i comuni della Costa d'Amalfi) e si visita tranquillamente a piedi.
Consiglio di trascorrere almeno un'intera giornata in questa città meravigliosa, in modo da godere del suo bellissimo mare e scoprire le sue bellezze artistiche e architettoniche.

Amalfi, in my opinion more characteristic than the glamorous Positano, is very small (as all the towns of the Amalfi coast) and you can visit it on foot.
I suggest you to spend at least an entire day in this wonderful place, in order to enjoy its beautiful sea and discover its artistic and architectural wonders.

Innanzitutto, il mezzo più suggestivo per raggiungere Amalfi è sicuramente l'auto: la strada statale 163 è veramente una delle meraviglie del mondo, sarebbe un peccato perdersi quegli scorci incantevoli!
Una volta arrivati in città, è possibile parcheggiare in prossimità del porto (costo del parcheggio: 3 euro all'ora) per poi dirigersi sulla piccola spiaggia antistante il centro per concedersi un bagno rilassante.

First of all, I suggest you get to Amalfi by car: the highway 163 is one of the wonders of the world, it would be a shame to miss those enchanting views!
Once in town, you can park next to the port (cost of parking: EUR 3 per hour) and then you can go on the small beach in front of the center to enjoy a relaxing bath.

Dopo il mare, lasciatevi trascinare dagli inebrianti odori di pesce fresco e prodotti locali in uno dei tanti tipici ristoranti che troverete lungo la strada principale.
A questo punto è tempo di andare alla scoperta dell'antica storia di Amalfi. 

After the sea, let yourself be drawn by the smells of fresh fish and local products in one of the many typical restaurants that you'll find along the main street.
Now it's time to go to discover the ancient history of Amalfi.

Iniziate la vostra visita dalla piazza che ospita l'imponente e incantevole Duomo.
Una lunga scalinata conduce all'ingresso di questa bella e particolare chiesa, al cui interno troverete un chiostri difficile da dimenticare.
Proseguendo, poi, lungo la strada principale, si arriva a Piazza Municipio.
Consiglio una visita al Comune, dal momento che qui sono conservate le antiche monete amalfitane e gli antichi abiti indossati durante la Regata Storica.

Start your visit from the square that houses the imposing and magnificent cathedral.
A stairway leads to the entrance of this wonderful church, inside which you will find a cloister hard to forget.
Continuing, then, along the main road, you'll get to Piazza Municipio.
I recommend a visit to the Municipality, since here are preserved ancient coins of Amalfi and the old clothes worn during the Historical Regatta.

Degna di una visita è, infine, Piazza dello Spirito Santo, da cui ha inizio la Valle dei Mulini, antica sede di cartiere.

Amalfi era, un tempo, famosa per la produzione della carta ed è possibile ancora oggi osservare gli antichi macchinari utilizzati per questa attività nel Museo della Carta.

Finally, worthy of a visit is Piazza of the Holy Spirit, where the Valley of the Mills, the former seat of paper mills, begins.

Amalfi was famous for the production of paper and you can still observe the ancient machinery used for this activity in the Paper Museum.

Prima di salutare questa graziosa città, è d'obbligo una sosta in una pasticceria o in un bar per assaggiare il famoso dolce locale, la delizia al limone, che vi aiuterà a rendere ancora più speciale il ricordo di questa giornata!
