UN WEEKEND PER INNAMORARSI DI GAETA

Ho passato, durante la seconda metà di ottobre, un bellissimo fine settimana nella zona di Gaeta. Anche se ormai era già autunno inoltrato, le temperature erano ancora pienamente estive, perfette anche per fare il bagno: questo, tra i tanti, uno dei punti forti di questa zona.

I spent, during the second half of October, a beautiful weekend in Gaeta area. Even though it was already late autumn, the temperatures were still fully summer, also perfect for swimming: this, among many, one of the strong points of this places.

Chiaramente la costa del basso Lazio è un posto a cui si pensa soprattutto per il mare: gli incantevoli panorami a picco sull'acqua, le spiagge sconfinate e dalla sabbia brillante, i magici tramonti marini; il mare azzurrissimo e la vastità del cielo lasciano veramente a bocca aperta!

Insomma: Gaeta e i suoi dintorni sono il posto perfetto per chi ha bisogno di una stupefacente vacanza di mare; ma non solo per lui: si tratta, infatti, di una zona con diversi paesini interessanti da visitare, con diversi spunti anche sotto il punto di vista storico e culturale.

Clearly the southern Lazio coast is a place where you think especially for the sea: the beautiful scenery overlooking the water, the endless beaches and the brilliant sand, the magical sea sunsets; the blue sea and the vastness of the sky truly jaw-dropping!

Gaeta and its surroundings are the perfect place for those who need an amazing beach holiday; but not only for this kind of person: it is, in fact, an area with several interesting towns to visit, even with different historical and cultural point of interest.

Primo di tutto, vi consiglio di visitare Sperlonga (il comune fa anche parte de “I borghi più belli d'Italia”). Il caratteristico paesino offre scorci e atmosfere tipiche dei posti mediterranei (a me ha ricordato molto Amalfi); le costruzioni bianche, i terrazzamenti sul mare, l'inconfondibile odore di salsedine; con tanti negozi dove acquistare prodotti tipici e una bella piazzetta dove rinfrescarsi e mangiare qualcosa di locale.

First of all, I suggest you visit Sperlonga (the town is also part of "The most beautiful villages in Italy”). The quaint town offers glimpses and atmosphere typical of the Mediterranean basis (reminded me a lot Amalfi); the white buildings, the terraces on the sea, the unmistakable smell of salt; with many shops selling local products and a nice little square where you can refresh and eat something.

Ma anche la stessa Gaeta è una città degna di nota! Il mare che domina ogni prospettiva, e gli affascinanti vicoletti del centro storico; le chiesette che fanno capolino all'improvviso e il maestoso campanile del Duomo: anche Gaeta va vista senza esitare!

La città più grande e vicina è Formia; anche quella da vedere.

But also Gaeta is a city worthy of note! The sea that dominates every perspective, and the charming streets of the historic center; churches that peek suddenly and the majestic bell tower of the Cathedral: very beautiful!

Durante il mio soggiorno nella zona di Gaeta, ho avuto il piacere di soggiornare presso il Summit Hotel****; l'hotel scelto ha reso ancora più piacevole il mio week-end. Si tratta di una struttura interamente immersa nel mare, ogni stanza ha un bellissimo affaccio sulla spiaggia sottostante (accessibile dallo stesso hotel). Le camere, pulite e spaziose, offrono ogni tipo di comfort. E' inoltre presente un centro estetico, dove il percorso benessere proposto saprà rilassarvi ancora maggiormente. La colazione, varia e abbondante, è servita in una bellissima sala tutta specchi, che offre un panorama incredibile (è possibile anche mangiare fuori; il panorama è lo stesso). Ma il punto forte della struttura, a mio parere, è sicuramente l'accesso diretto alla grande e pulitissima spiaggia: un piccolo anticipo di Paradiso!

During my week-end in Gaeta area, I had the pleasure of staying at the Summit Hotel ****; the hotel made it even more enjoyable my weekend. It is a structure completely immersed in the sea, each room has a beautiful overlooking on the beach below (accessible directly from the same hotel). The rooms are clean and spacious, offering every kind of comfort. There is also a beauty center. The breakfast, varied and plentiful, is served in a beautiful room with glass walls, whit an incredible view (you can also eat outside; the view is the same). But the highlight of the hotel, in my opinion, is certainly the direct access to the large, clean beach: a small preview of paradise!

Insomma, Gaeta e zone limitrofe sono perfette per le vostre vacanze estive, per ogni estimatore del mare; ma, a mio parere, vanno bene, anzi benissimo, in altre stagioni, anche per chiunque ami posti calmi e pieni di bellezza.

In short, Gaeta and surrounding area are perfect for your summer vacation, for every connoisseur of the sea; but, in my opinion, they are going well, very well indeed, in other seasons, also for all those who love quiet places and cities full of beauty.
